In 1983 World Championships, he also won the silver medal in the 20 km of Race Walking.
In 1983, he broke 20 km Race Walking World Record with the time of 1h 19m 30s.
In 1986 European Championships, he won the gold medal in the 20 km of Race Walking.
In 1987 World Championships, he won the silver medal in the 20 km of Race Walking.
