Barbara Moore (1903-1977) was a Russian-born British engineer who gained celebrity status in the early 1960s for her long-distance walking.
Barbara Moore broke several Across World Records.
In 1960, Moore walked 5.450 km, from San Francisco to New York, in 86 days.
She died in a London hospital on 14 May 1977, bankrupt and near starvation because of her refusal to eat.
In 2020, the 60th birthday of this great walk across USA is commemorated.
