He was the 1980 Olympic Champion (Moscow) and the 1987 and 1991 World Champion in the 20 km Race Walking. In 1982 European Indoor Championships, he also won the gold medal in the 5 km of Race Walking. In 1992, Damilano broke 30 km Race Walking World Record with the time of 2h 01m 44s 1. In 1999, Maurizio Damilano and Giorgio Damilano founded Fit Walking. In 2022, the 40th birthday of his gold medal at the 1982 European Indoor Championships is commemorated. Comments are closed.
